4 - The original
Tupelo knife was the 3" blade and was the
first knife to be marketed for use exclusively
with tupelo wood. It has quite a history and the
original design almost surely came from Louisiana.
I began making the shorter lengths to expand its
use to carvers who did not feel comfortable with
the long blade. They became popular detail knives.
The shorter, rounded handle is designed to lay
comfortably in the palm of your hand, promoting
a smooth even stroke, using the whole blade with
either a push or pull motion.
Because of its rich color and smooth texture,
Bloodwood is the standard wood of choice for the
T series, however, other selected hardwoods are
also used.
